Our radio-alarm clock woke us up this morning just minutes after NPR's Bob Edwards learned about the attack on the World Trade Center. My first thought was that our reception was somehow being interrupted, because for a few seconds he was speechless. If only that were the reason.
Over the next few days you can bet that shock will turn to anger, and other terrible things will happen as a result. What should we have done differently, I wonder, to prevent the world from getting into this awful state?
